5 Fun Facts About My New Item, Real Fly Earrings

New Real Fly Earrings just came out! I wanted to shine a bit more light on this item with 5 fun facts!

  1. These flies are ethically collected in my home. When living on a farm, there are so many flies around, so I pick up the insects when I find them.
  2. They are one of a kind! You will never find two flies that are the same; their sizes always vary!
  3. House flies typically live only 28 days, often dying from starvation or old age.
  4. Flies are viewed in various ways spiritually and religiously. In religion, they were often seen as signs of evil, rot, and decay; in Egyptian culture, they were also viewed as symbols of freedom, persistence, and adaptability.
  5. Flies taste with their feet!

Flies, overall, are very interesting insects despite being pests and occurring in large numbers. I choose to see the beauty in nature, even if insects like flies are usually frowned upon. Each earring I make is delicately handcrafted, and the fly is placed with respect. These are a super fun, unique way to show off your odd side and spark a conversation about our environment or nature!
